Ingredients
-
3 cups of pumpkin, peeled, de-seeded and diced into small cubes
-
⅛ teaspoon of ground nutmeg (optional)
-
½ cup of water
-
½ cup of breastmilk or formula (optional)
Directions
Peel and cut the pumpkin into small cubes;
Use the steaming function on your steamer blender, add the water and steam for approximately 10 minutes or until tender;
Take out the basket(s) and remove the water (keep water to one side);
Place the soft pumpkin (and optional nutmeg) into the jug and blend, adding small amounts of the saved water until you reach your desired consistency (smooth for younger babies);
If you would like a more creamy texture then you can add a small amount of breastmilk or baby formula instead of using the water;
Portion into reusable food pouches;
Serve with a detachable and reusable food pouch spoon!
Top Tip: Choose pumpkins that are firm on the outside and not too ripe. If you are buying prepared pumpkin choose a rich orange colour with firm pieces. Plus don’t forget to check the use-by date.
