Our Avocado and Passion Fruit Ice Poles recipe makes a delicious creamy homemade ice pop without using dairy. The creaminess of the avocado blends well with the tartness of the passion fruit which your little one will just love!
2 cups of passion fruit pulp (you can use fresh, frozen or tinned passion fruit)
1 large (or 2 small) avocados, peeled, stone removed and roughly chopped
1 tablespoon of fresh lime or lemon juice
1 tablespoon of honey (optional for a sweeter taste)
Use the blender function on your steamer blender and blend all the ingredients until smooth;
Add the honey and do a quick blend to mix it through;
Portion into ice poles using the handy collapsible funnel that comes with your reusable Freeze n Squeeze ice pole pouches. Don't forget to leave a space for the mixture to expand whilst freezing;
Place in freezer for a minimum of 4 hours.
Avocados have a smooth and creamy texture which is rich in unsaturated (or good) fats. They contain lots of fibre and are rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B, vitamin K, potassium, copper, vitamin E and vitamin C.
Passion fruit has a significant number of antioxidants, which enhance the body’s immune system. It also has a high content of vitamins A and C plus many health benefits. However, due to it’s acidity, passion fruit is not suitable for babies under 12 months.
Honey is not recommended for infants under 12 months of age as it contains a bacteria which can cause Infant Botulism. But as a natural sweetener it is perfect to give to older kids.
Best for kids over 12 months!
